The Enamelist Society, Inc. (TES) is interested in hiring a new Director of Operations


Job Title: Director of Operations


Job Purpose -  

TES is a professional society of enamel artists with a Board of Trustees who are all volunteers. That body and its officers are responsible for the Vision and Objectives of TES. It is the role of the Director of Operations to support and accomplish the objectives via the operations of the society; office, staff and volunteers.


Job Duties and Responsibilities -

1.     Description of the key duties and responsibilities

a.     Membership, programming and outreach support

b.     Volunteer, committee, Board and staff coordination

c.     Financial management; dues collection, grant writing, financial statements

d.     Publications – Newsletter, FUSENEWS, E-blasts, social media, etc.

e.     Conference logistics and coordination

f.       Exhibitions logistics and communication

g.     TES library and corporate files


2.     The type of supervisory responsibility

a.     Supervision of staff – outsourced and/or in office

b.     Supervision of volunteers – Board members, committee chairs, society members, etc.

c.     Supervision of outside suppliers, contractors (Conference, printing, exhibition, etc.)


3.     The key job duties in terms of time and effort

a.     Membership, programming & outreach (20%)

b.    Volunteer and committee coordination (15%)

c.     Financial Management (10%)

d.     Publications (15%)

e.     Conference (20%)

f.      Exhibitions (15%)

g.     Office records, library (5%)


Required Qualifications -

1.     Educational – a bachelor’s level degree is a minimum requirement, preferably management, business or marketing

2.     Experience –  a minimum of 5 years of work in an association management, marketing or not-for-profit role(s). Experience in any field of art, art management, museum operation or gallery function roles is a plus.

3.     Specific skills and/or abilities –  these will include: communication, writing, computer/software, multi-tasking, problem-solving, project management, supervision, teamwork, customer service, social media and budget/financial.


Working Conditions -

·      The managing director position is generally a 40 hour per week job based in a suburban Atlanta office.

·      There is some travel involved but in aggregate it will generally be 10% at the most.

·      It is understood that some longer workdays or weekend work will occur, especially during a Conference. Due to the cyclical nature of the TES Conferences, etc. the workload will vary depending on the nature of the programming, the Conference venue, etc.

·      Additional activities such as traveling an Exhibition can involve physically loading a van, driving the van to the next venue and unloading.
