The Autumn Symposium

The International Enamel Studio in Kecskemet, Hungary, south of Budapest, is open throughout the year and provides an opportunity for experimenting and studying for both domestic and foreign artists. The art director is Endre Turi, painter, who continuously helps the interested participants to solve technical and art questions.
Program topics for 2008 are The Year of the Bible and King Matthias, the Great Ruler of European Renaissance.

If this is the first time that you are applying, please send a short summary of your previous activity and pictures, slides or a CD of your work. They cannot accept changes in dates later than two weeks before the beginning of the symposium.

W.W. Carpenter Enamel Foundation Conference
August 18-25, 2008
The Second W.W. Carpenter Enamel Foundation Conference, Workshops and Exhibition will be held at the Carpenter Foundation Vitreous Enamel Center in Bellevue, Kentucky.
Pre-Conference workshops will be held August 18-19. Workshops being offered are: In Enameling, How Do You Spell Relief? B A S S E T A I L L E, of Course with Bill Helwig, Fauré Studio Enamel Techniques with Tom Ellis, Creating Ceramic Decals with Harry Burnett Jr. and Enameling with the Eutectic Process with Jaime Frechette.
The Conference will be held August 20-21. Among a slate of lectures and demonstrations being scheduled will be Ben Caldwell of Nashville, TN providing a demonstration of his large-scale, double-torch firing technique.
Post conference workshops will be offered August 22-23. The pre-conference workshops of Bill Helwig and Tom Ellis will be reprised in addition to Techniques and Procedures for Limited Edition Enamels with Susan Hunt.
The accompanying exhibition is themed “Postage Stamps and Postcards”. Bill Helwig has generously offered cash awards. Click here for exhibition information.

MJSA Trade Show for Jewelry Making
September 17-18, 2008
Jewelry makers and designers of all types and sizes will have the opportunity to benefit from the resources and information provided at the third annual MJSA Trade Show for Jewelry Making to be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. The show will feature a unique mix of vendors offering a wide range of tools, components, supplies, and services as well as FREE educational seminars conducted by some of the jewelry industry's top presenters.
Seminars will offer business and technical training on topics such as promoting, pricing, and producing your work, making loop-in-loop chains, designing with beads, casting glass, and soldering fundamentals. Seminar instructors include Chris Ploof of Chris Ploof Designs, Ann Cahoon of Marquis Flying Studio, Nick Regine of Swarovski, Linus Drogs of Au Enterprises, and Karen Christians of Cleverwerx and author of Making the Most of Your Flex-shaft.
